Derek Earl, Vice-President of the WTC Winnipeg, welcomed a delegation from Korea this past July. This trade mission to Manitoba was a direct result of the exploratory visit to Korea led by the WTC Winnipeg in December 2014. Delegates from Gyeongbuk Technopark visited Winnipeg and The Pas, Manitoba and signed a partnership agreement with the Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN First Nation).
Since the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) was signed by the Canadian Government in 2014, the WTC Winnipeg has been busy developing its Korea Market Access Program, and formulating a broader strategy to explore and develop new opportunities in Korea for Manitoba companies.
As the WTC Winnipeg prepares to host the 4th edition of its signature trade event Centrallia 2016 (May 25-27, 2016), this mission also provided an opportunity for the Gyeongbuk Technopark to sign an agreement to bring a Korean delegation to Centrallia 2016, the global B2B forum (www.centrallia.com).
