WINNIPEG, CANADA - WTC Winnipeg becomes among the first in Canada to formally sign such a partnership

WTC Winnipeg and the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at Bradley University in Peoria (ITC) have signed an important agreement to collaborate in industry sectors that will be ripe for mutual cooperation, which include specialized manufacturing and technology commercialization among others. Most notably, this new partnership will increase access to the US market for Manitoba companies.

“We believe this is a noteworthy announcement given the broader context of a pre-existing 2011 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Province of Manitoba and the State of Illinois,” WTC Winnipeg President and CEO Mariette Mulaire said at a news conference held with ITC delegates, “Manitoba companies will now be well connected through the Small Business Network of the Americas, which gives us access to 1100+ centres across the USA, and hundreds more in Latin America.”

The ITC and WTC are pursuing this partnership based on a common interest to develop stronger ties, the expertise of their respective trade teams, demonstrated ability to build strong international partnerships, and are each recognized as leader within the local business community. Illinois delegates were in Winnipeg June 1-2 to sign the MOU and participate in an exploratory trade mission.
